Chocolateism of the New Year

It’s a little less than 15 hours for the New Year, and, before  the new year rings in, how about having that one goal that will change your life, perhaps for a lifetime?  Here is one that I have been practicing for some time, and it boils down to friendship; wise friendship with people that love me enough to tell me the truth.                                                                                                                     Every woman needs the covering of a (wise) circle of friends so ladies, put on that cover!

Start your new year with a mission statement

New Year’s eve is just 3 short days away.  Let this year be the year that you shine like never before.  Remember, any plan with a purpose must start with a mission statement.  You are a unique creation like no other.  Make a difference in 2015 for yourself and others and have a life mission statement, tailor made to you.  You will see the difference.

Make deposits of Praise

Make deposits in your praise bank; For then you will have true success.           (Jacqueline R Banks)

This is for real.  I found out the other day that I am really a millionaire:  Not by inheritance, not by winnings, but by looking past dollars and cents.  See, when I work grueling hours, and my physical body gets stronger, that’s wealth.  When the pressures of life squeeze me like a baby passing through his mother’s birth canal, but I am still joyful, that’s wealth!                                Mental and physical stamina, plus faith, equals wealth.  See, a man or woman cannot build wealth if they are fatigued, stressed out.  Keep on living like that, it only leads to poverty or just barely getting by.  Keep on living in the atmosphere of praise, and watch that creative energy flow!  That energy will lead you into prosperity, and hence, wealth.                      (If this post has inspired you in some way, or you wish to share your own victory story, please, please drop me a line in the contact form).

Peace Amidst the River of Turbulence

Right now, I’m sad.  The time of the year which should be one of “peace on earth, good will towards men,” right now is essentially one of outrage.  My friends, let us not kill with words or bullets, but let us seek reconciliation and justice, no matter how elusive lady justice is.

Decisions determine your destiny! (Tis the season to be–safe!)

Good day all!

This is, in a sense, the most wonderful time of the year.  All the young college folks preparing for the winter break, making trips back home.  Well, here is a little feedback that you can chew on as you make your travel plans:  (1) Be careful of distractions that can only detour you.

The Buckeye state’s Ohio State University campus was alive with a flurry of activity around the upcoming holiday season.  Even Arneatha cut down on her jabs about Kim being a “goody two shoes.”  The festive decorations throughout the campus reflected the diversity of its students and created a sense of excitement within Kim.  “I feel as if I belong now”, Kim explained as she shared her testimony at the Fisher of Men Club.  “Jesus wants us to be fishers of men, and I don’t feel that little out of place feeling I sometimes felt when I first arrived on campus a little over three months ago.”  There were smiles and nods of affirmation and murmurs of “praise the Lord” and “amen” throughout the room in Emerson hall.  The students played Yolanda Adams and Amy Grants CDs as well as Asian songs sung in Chinese and Korean.  The melody and harmony conveyed a peaceful, reverential tone.  At the conclusion of the meeting, Kim strolled across the campus to her dorm room, humming Silent Night.  A smiling Kim turns the lock to her dorm room, and her eyes immediately fell upon the half consumed beer bottles.  Arneatha and her friends, some of whom were unfamiliar to Kim were seated around the small kitchen table amidst half consumed bottles of Coors beer.  Arneatha immediately took note of the small bible in Kim’s left hand and that she stopped smiling upon seeing the beer bottles.                                                            (Excerpt from:  A Fine Piece of Chocolate:  Righteous Sistas Crossing Over to the Wild Side,  Point #2 Distractions Take Away From Your Destiny                  Westbow Press, 2013 ISBN# 978-1-4497-9109-4

“To All My Facebook Friends” (2)

Facebookking can be both fun and frustrating! I think for a newbie author it serves a purpose up to a point, then, it’s good to get out and network with flesh and blood and make new contacts. FineChocolate58

My Life As An Aspiring Software Engineer

Aternatively,
We could unplug ourselves
Off Facebook
And start writing
In journals.
Alternatively,
We could write
Each other letters
And make frequent trips
To the post office.
It will take too much of our time,
Of course, but our correspondence
Will be longer
And the pleasure of conversing
Will be drawn out.
Anyway, a conversation
Via social media
Mediated by computer monitors
And profile photos
Isn’t really much of a
Conversation, is it?
Anyway, I want to see your
Handwriting, feel the strokes
Of your pen with my fingers,
And smell the ink and paper.
You don’t have to write and sound
Like Jane Austen, although that would
Be great, as well.
You can write like a cardiologist,
I wouldn’t mind.
There are nuances in our handwriting,
You know.
Alternatively,
We could lie on roof tops
And gaze at the distant galaxies
And talk about our dreams.
Alternatively,
We could…

Chocolateism of the Day–When you have to Let it Go, Let it Go With a Smile

Have you ever had to let go of something that you really, really wanted?  Life happened, and out of necessity caused by the situation you are in, it became best to let it go.  Well, that happened to me this year.  Mortgage problems, no money for repairs, no way, no how.  Time to put ‘er up for sale–Let it go!

Letting go of something you’ve grown comfortable with is such a hard thing!  We are such creatures of habit, that letting go of relationships that we have grown comfortable with, be it a house in need of repair or a person in need of repair, can be more traumatic than a mouth full of aching teeth.  And speaking of teeth, let it go with a smile.  That’s right.  Smile!  Your ability to smile in the midst of heartache or disappointment is your victory.  You’re really saying, through that smile, “I have the victory.

  • It was great living here.  (smile)
  • Time to say goodbye.  (smile)
  • The neighbors were great! (smile)
  • New location, new opportunities.  (smile)
  • Had some good years.  (smile)
  • Time to go.  (smile)
  • I wish you well.  (smile)
  • Good things come to those who believe.  (smile)
